Commlite ND Filter Variable Fader - 82 mm
Commlite ND Filter Variable Fader - 82 mm | Adjust light without changing filters
Bright daylight can force a choice between a fast shutter speed and the aperture you want. The Commlite ND Filter Variable Fader gives you a way to reduce the light reaching the lens while adjusting the filter’s density, so you can keep more control over exposure. Its 82 mm size is the key detail when choosing it: it’s intended for a lens with a matching 82 mm filter thread. This filter suits photographers and videographers who want to manage bright conditions without swapping between fixed-strength ND filters. It’s particularly handy for video, where keeping a consistent shutter speed matters, and for daylight scenes where you want a wider aperture or a slower shutter. The variable adjustment makes it easier to respond as the light changes, though it won’t replace a set of fixed ND filters when you need a precisely defined strength.
Specialist Note
This Commlite filter earns its place when changing light makes swapping fixed ND filters a nuisance. The variable fader lets you adjust how much light the filter reduces, which is handy for keeping your video exposure under control as clouds pass or for choosing a slower shutter in bright daylight. The 82 mm size matters just as much in practice: it’s for a lens with an 82 mm filter thread, so match that measurement before choosing it. I’d point it toward someone who wants flexible exposure control without carrying several fixed-strength filters. For repeatable, precisely matched reductions, fixed ND strengths can be the more straightforward option.
