Formatt Hitech Firecrest 58mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 58mm Superslim UV IR Cut | Slim filter for UV and infrared
The superslim profile is the defining design choice: it keeps the filter’s rim low in front of the lens, rather than adding a deep, bulky edge. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest is a 58mm UV/IR cut filter, made for photographers who want to filter ultraviolet and infrared light at the lens. It suits anyone whose lens takes a 58mm filter and who has a specific reason to use this type of filtration, such as working outdoors in daylight or photographing architecture. Its purpose is focused: it cuts UV and IR, rather than adding an exposure effect or changing the scene with a polarising effect. That makes it a straightforward option when UV/IR filtering is what you need. The slim form also keeps the physical addition modest, which is useful if you prefer a low-profile setup on the front of your lens.
Specialist Note
Setup is simple: match the 58mm size to your lens and you can keep this filter ready for the situations where UV/IR filtration is useful. For outdoor landscapes or daylight architecture, fit it before you start composing, so the filtering is in place from the first frame. The superslim profile means the rim doesn’t add much depth at the front of the lens, which keeps the setup feeling neat. I’d recommend it to someone who specifically wants UV and infrared cut, rather than a filter for exposure control or a polarising effect. Its job is quite particular, so choose it for that purpose.
