Formatt Hitech Firecrest 85mm Holder Kit Inc Holder 77mm CP 77/72/67/58 Adapters
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 85mm Holder Kit Inc Holder 77mm CP 77/72/67/58 Adapters | A flexible foundation for filter work
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 85mm Holder Kit Inc Holder 77mm CP 77/72/67/58 Adapters combines an 85mm holder with a 77mm CP and four adapter sizes. It’s aimed at photographers who want a holder-based filter setup and use lenses with different filter-thread sizes. The included adapters cover 77mm, 72mm, 67mm and 58mm threads, so you can select the one that matches the lens you’re using. The CP gives you a polarising filter option for scenes where reflected light matters, such as water or glass. This kit is most useful when you want to work with the Firecrest 85mm holder system and have more than one lens size to accommodate. It keeps the key sizing choices together, rather than leaving you to assemble a holder and adapters separately.
Where the CP can help
A polarising filter can help reduce reflections and alter the appearance of a blue sky. That makes the included CP relevant for landscapes, water and scenes photographed through glass. The effect depends on the light and your angle to the subject, so it’s something to assess as you compose rather than expect to look identical in every scene. Match the adapter to your lens’s filter thread before setting up; the four stated sizes give you a clear choice for common thread dimensions.
Specialist Note
Setup is a matter of choosing the matching adapter, then working with the 85mm holder; that keeps the sizing decision simple when you switch between lenses. I’d suggest this kit to someone building a holder-based filter setup who also wants a CP ready for reflective scenes. The 77mm CP gives you a way to manage reflections on water or glass, while the holder provides the mounting part of the system. One practical point: the adapter has to match the lens’s filter-thread size, so this kit’s listed sizes are the ones to check against your lenses. It’s a focused kit, not a collection of extra filter types.
