Freewell V2 Series Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter
Freewell V2 Series Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter | Control light and reflections
Bright daylight can make action-camera footage difficult to expose as you want, and reflections can distract from the scene. The Freewell V2 Series Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter combines variable light reduction with a polarising effect, giving you two kinds of control in one filter. The VND side helps manage exposure in bright surroundings; the CPL side is useful when reflected light on water or glass is part of the picture. That makes it a practical option for action-camera users filming outdoors who want to manage both issues with one accessory. Its strongest use is in changeable daylight or around reflective surfaces, where fixed light reduction may not give you the flexibility you need. It’s a combined tool, though: the two effects aren’t selected independently.
Specialist Note
The trade-off is that the VND and CPL effects come together, rather than as two independently chosen filters. I still see the appeal for action-camera users filming outdoors: the 3–7-stop range lets you adjust light reduction to suit bright conditions, while the CPL effect can help tame reflections in a shot of water or glass. For stronger daylight, move towards the higher end of the range; for a reflective surface, use the polarising effect to reduce distracting glare. The magnetic attachment is also a key part of this V2-series filter, so it’s best suited to a setup made for that connection.
