FXLion LCD 14.8V/9.0AH/130WH V-Lock

FXLion LCD 14.8V/9.0AH/130WH V-Lock - 130Wh rechargeable battery

The FXLion LCD 14.8V/9.0AH/130WH V-Lock combines a 130Wh capacity with a USB port, so one battery can serve camera equipment and a smartphone. It’s a rechargeable V-lock battery for camera crews and production teams powering equipment such as cameras, flashes and monitors. The USB connection adds a straightforward way to charge a phone from the same battery, rather than relying only on its V-lock connection for equipment. That’s useful on a shoot where a camera monitor or flash needs power and a phone also needs a top-up. Five side-mounted LED indicators show the battery’s status, giving you a visible reading before use and while working. Internal protection against overheating and overcharging is another useful detail for a battery that gets charged and used repeatedly. The capacity is 9.0Ah, and the battery’s voltage is 14.8V. Those figures, along with its 130Wh rating, describe a specific power source rather than a small general-purpose phone battery. The honest point to keep in mind is that it weighs 950g: the compact thickness is useful, but this is still a substantial battery to carry with a camera kit.

Why it is useful

• 14.8V output: The stated voltage gives you a clear figure to compare with the requirements of the equipment you plan to power. It identifies this as a V-lock battery for camera-production use, rather than a general-purpose portable charger.
• 9.0Ah capacity: The battery stores 9,000mAh of charge. That capacity is useful context when planning power for equipment on a shoot, while the actual running time depends on the connected device and its power draw.
• USB port: Alongside its use with camera equipment, the USB connection can charge a smartphone. It adds a second type of device to the battery’s uses, without changing the fact that this is a V-lock battery.
• Five LED status lights: The indicators on the side show the battery’s charge status. You can read them before a session or during use, rather than relying on a guess about how much charge remains.
• Overheating and overcharge protection: Internal protection addresses two concerns during charging and use: excessive heat and overcharging. It’s a useful safeguard in a rechargeable battery that’s part of a working kit.
• Multiple equipment uses: The battery is suitable for charging cameras, flashes and monitors. Those examples make its role clear for a production setup with different kinds of equipment drawing power.

Good to know

At 51mm thick, the battery has a relatively slim profile for a 130Wh V-lock model, although its 950g weight is noticeable when packing or carrying a kit. FXLion also uses insulating material in the battery’s construction. That construction detail is relevant to durability, while the stated protection against overheating and overcharging covers the battery’s internal safeguards.
