The Godox Studio Kit E250-D brings three 250 Ws flash heads together with stands, a softbox, an umbrella and light-shaping accessories. That gives a small studio a multi-light setup in one kit, rather than a single flash to build around. It’s a strong fit for portrait work, where the softbox can produce more even, softened light, and for product photography, where three heads give you separate lights to position around a subject. The included silver-lined umbrella offers a harder light character, useful when you want more defined shadows. The BD-03 barndoor kit adds another way to shape the beam and introduce colour. Each E250 head has a 150 W modelling lamp, so you can see the light falling on the scene while setting up. The three included stands reach two metres, and the CB-04 wheeled case keeps the kit together for transport. This is a substantial starter studio set, with the useful distinction that it offers both soft and more directional light modifiers right out of the case.

Why it is useful

• Power adjustment and display: Set flash output across 20 levels and read the selected setting on the clear LED display. That makes it straightforward to keep track of each head’s output as you arrange a multi-light setup.
• Adjustable modelling lamp: The 150 W lamp has nine brightness levels. You can alter its brightness while composing and positioning your subject, rather than relying on the flash alone to judge the scene.
• Consistent colour: The flash heads have a 5600 K colour temperature. That gives the kit a stated colour reference for studio lighting and helps you keep the look consistent across the three heads.
• Control the beam: The 96 mm BD-03 barndoor has four adjustable leaves, plus a honeycomb and four colour filters. The leaves shape where the beam falls; the filters add colour to the flash.
• Choose a softer or harder modifier: The 60 × 60 cm SB-MS softbox softens flash and spreads light more evenly. The 84 cm UB-002 umbrella has a silver inside and black outside; its silver surface produces a harder result than the softbox.
• Ready for a quick sequence: Recycle time is 0.4–2.5 seconds, and flash duration is 1/2000–1/800 second. Those figures describe how quickly the heads recharge and the duration of the flash.

Good to know

The heads support triggering by sync cable, test button, slave triggering or the included RT-16 wireless trigger set. An anti-pre-flash function is also included, and the heads automatically retain changed settings. Each head measures 11.8 × 20 × 20.3 cm and weighs about 1.5 kg, useful figures to bear in mind when packing or placing the units.
