H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/4 Filter Kit 72mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/4 Filter Kit 72mm | Gentle highlights, softer contrast
Highlights take on a softer, gently glowing edge, giving scenes a more atmospheric feel. The H&Y HD EVO-Series Black Mist 1/4 Filter Kit is for photographers and filmmakers who want that character in-camera rather than added later. Its Black Mist effect can soften bright points and ease fine contrast, which can flatter skin and add mood to night streets, window light or backlit scenes. The 1/4 strength offers a considered way to introduce that look while keeping the rest of the picture present. This 72mm version suits a lens with a matching 72mm filter thread. Reach for it when you want gentler highlights and a softer portrait finish; leave it off when crisp micro-contrast and hard-edged detail matter more. It’s a creative filter with a particular look, rather than a general-purpose correction filter.
Specialist Note
72mm is the size to match at the front of your lens, so this kit makes sense when your lens already has a 72mm filter thread. The 1/4 strength is the part I’d pay attention to for the look: it brings in Black Mist character without asking the effect to dominate every frame. I’d suggest it to someone after softer skin in portraits or a gentler glow around bright lights in a night scene. Keep the filter on for those shots, then take it off when you want crisp, clean contrast. That trade-off is the point: this filter gives your images a deliberate, softened rendering.
