H&Y MRC Protection Filter 72mm | UV filtering and front protection

Keep a protective filter in place while you shoot, so you don’t have to remove a lens cap every time you want to take a picture. The H&Y MRC Protection Filter 72mm is a UV filter sized for lenses that take a 72mm filter. It suits photographers who want a simple protective layer for everyday shooting, from outdoor walks to busy street scenes. UV filters have traditionally been used to reduce the effect of ultraviolet light in a scene; with a modern digital camera, many photographers value the filter’s protective role most. It’s a straightforward way to keep a filter in front of your lens without adding a creative colour effect. Match the filter size to your lens, then leave it in place when you want that extra layer between the lens and the outside world.

Specialist Note

This filter lets you leave a protective layer in place instead of repeatedly fitting and removing a lens cap. I’d consider it for outdoor landscapes or everyday street photography, where you may want the lens ready to shoot without taking the cap off first. The 72mm size tells you which lens filter size it’s intended for, so match that number to the lens before choosing it. Its UV-filter type is also useful to know: this is a protection-focused filter, not one intended to create a pronounced colour or exposure effect. I like the simplicity of that role; just keep expectations to protection and UV filtering.
