Hama Filter PL Circulair 72mm 72572

Hama Filter PL Circulair 72mm 72572 | Reduce reflections and deepen skies

Reflections on water or glass can be less distracting, while a blue sky can look richer in your pictures. The Hama Filter PL Circulair is a 72mm circular polarizing filter: turn it to adjust the polarizing effect as you compose. It’s suited to photographers who want more control over reflections and sky tones without relying on editing afterwards. Try it when photographing a reflective shop window, a pond, or a landscape with open sky. The effect changes with your angle to the light, so take a moment to rotate the filter and watch the scene through the viewfinder or on your screen. A polarizer can also reduce the amount of light reaching the camera, so you may need to adjust exposure. This is a straightforward filter for considered, hands-on use; its results depend on the light and on how you set it.

Using the filter

Rotate the filter while viewing your composition and stop when reflections or sky tones look the way you want. The change is easiest to judge in the image itself, rather than by turning the filter to a fixed position. For reflective surfaces, make small adjustments and keep an eye on what remains visible behind the reflection. In a landscape, compare the sky before and after rotating the filter. The effect varies with your shooting direction, so a polarizer won’t give the same result in every frame. If you’re working in changing light, review your exposure after adjusting the filter.
