Hama Network Cable CAT-5E 1 GBIT/s F/UTP Afgeschermd 20.00 M

Hama CAT-5E 1 Gbit/s F/UTP Shielded Network Cable 20 m | A longer wired connection

When a network device is too far from the router for a short lead, a wired connection can become awkward to arrange. This Hama network cable gives you 20 metres of reach, with CAT-5E cabling rated at 1 Gbit/s. It’s a practical option for a home or work setup where you want to connect network equipment by cable and need more distance than a desk-length lead allows. The F/UTP shielding is part of the cable’s specification, and its grey colour is easy to recognise along a run. The useful point here is straightforward: you get a long, shielded network cable with a clearly stated Gigabit rate. Think about the route before you buy, though; the distance around furniture and along walls can be greater than the gap between two devices measured in a straight line.

Planning the cable run

A longer cable can make it easier to place connected equipment where it’s needed, but a little planning helps avoid an untidy route. Measure the path the cable will actually take, including turns around a room and the distance needed to reach the connection points. Leave some room at each end so the cable isn’t pulled tight when equipment is moved or repositioned. If the run crosses a doorway or a busy walkway, consider how you’ll keep it out of the way. A neat route is easier to live with and less likely to be caught by a chair, a foot or a moving piece of furniture. This cable is intended for a wired network connection; the main decision is whether its reach suits the route you have in mind.
