Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Plug (TosLink) Metal 1.5m

Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Plug (TosLink) Metal 1.5m | A direct link for TosLink audio

The useful detail here is the combination of an ODT (TosLink) connection, a metal plug and a 1.5-metre cable. This Hama optical audio cable is for anyone connecting audio equipment that has a matching TosLink socket and wants a cable of a clearly defined length. Its job is specific: link compatible audio connections, without adding functions or controls of its own. The black finish keeps it visually simple alongside other cables. At 1.5 metres, it can suit a nearby connection where a longer run would be unnecessary; do consider the actual route between your equipment, since the cable needs to reach around furniture or along a cabinet, not just span the gap in a straight line. It’s a straightforward option when the connection you need is optical TosLink and the distance is within reach. Check the ports on the equipment you’re connecting for the matching TosLink format.

Planning the connection

Before choosing where the cable will run, identify the two pieces of audio equipment and locate their TosLink connections. Then measure the route the cable needs to follow, allowing enough length to reach the ports without pulling it tight. This is a practical step with any fixed-length cable: a short, direct path and a route that passes around a cabinet can require different amounts of slack.

The 1.5-metre length gives you a concrete starting point for that check. If your equipment sits close together, it may be a sensible length to consider; if the cable has to travel farther, measure the full path rather than relying on the distance between the devices. Keep the cable route easy to follow and avoid placing equipment where the plug or cable is under strain. That keeps the setup simple and makes it easier to reach the connection if you need to rearrange your audio gear later.
