Helios 44-2 58mm f/2

Helios 44-2 58mm f/2 - Good Condition | Legendary Soviet Standard Prime with Swirly Bokeh in M42 Mount

The Helios 44-2 58mm f/2 is one of the most sought-after vintage lenses in the world, a Soviet standard prime famous for the swirly, dreamlike bokeh it produces. Based on the optical formula of the pre-war Carl Zeiss Biotar, it is sharp in the centre wide open, with a distinctive vortex rendering in the out-of-focus areas that modern lenses rarely reproduce. The fast f/2 aperture helps in low light, and the all-metal construction and smooth focus ring make it a pleasure to use. In M42 mount, it fits a wide range of film SLRs and adapts easily to modern mirrorless cameras. Serial number SR 79200638.

"The Helios 44-2 is a lens photographers seek out for what it does differently. That swirly bokeh is organic and dreamlike, and wide open at f/2 the rendering is unmistakably its own. Stopped down it becomes properly sharp across the frame. On a mirrorless body via adapter it is a joy to shoot with."
