JJC ND1000 Filter 49mm
JJC ND1000 Filter 49mm | Create long exposures in daylight
The defining choice is the ND1000 density: it cuts the light reaching the camera enough to make long exposures practical in bright conditions. JJC pairs that strength with a 49mm filter size, for use on a lens with a matching 49mm filter thread. This is the sort of filter to consider when you want moving water to soften into a continuous flow, or clouds to streak across a still landscape, rather than freeze in a single instant. It can also give you more room to use a wider aperture outdoors when the scene is otherwise too bright. The JJC ND1000 suits landscape photographers and anyone deliberately working with slow shutter speeds; it’s less about everyday snapshots and more about choosing motion blur as part of the picture. Compose and focus before fitting a filter this dense, then lengthen the exposure and keep the camera steady. That’s where it earns its place: intentional, extended exposures in daylight.
Specialist Note
A meter reading of 1/125 sec becomes about eight seconds with the ND1000 in place, giving moving water time to blur into a smooth trail. I’d frame and focus first, take a meter reading, then extend the shutter time for the filter’s light reduction; a tripod helps keep the landscape sharp while the water moves. The 49mm size makes it straightforward to match with a lens that has a 49mm filter thread, but it won’t fit a different thread size without an appropriate step-up or step-down ring. For someone who enjoys deliberate daylight landscapes, that combination of strong light reduction and a clearly defined size is the point.
