Kenko Stepping Ring 55mm - 62mm
Kenko Stepping Ring 55mm - 62mm | Fit a larger-thread filter
Your existing filter can stay in your kit while you use it on a lens with a different filter-thread size. The Kenko Stepping Ring 55mm - 62mm bridges a 55mm lens thread to a 62mm filter thread, making it useful when a lens and a filter you already own don’t share the same diameter. That can save you from buying another version of a filter just to use it on this lens. It suits photographers who keep filters in their bag and want a straightforward way to match these two thread sizes. It’s particularly practical for fitting a 62mm UV filter to a lens with a 55mm thread. The ring is an adapter, not a UV filter itself: it creates the connection, while the separate filter does the filtering. Its job is specific to this size pairing, so it won’t bridge other thread combinations.
Specialist Note
55mm is the lens-side opening here, so the ring fits that thread and gives a 62mm filter a matching seat. In practice, that’s handy if you already have a 62mm UV filter you want to use: attach the ring to the lens, then fit the filter onto the ring. I’d recommend it to someone who wants to use a filter they own across these exact thread sizes, rather than buy a duplicate for this lens. Keep in mind that the ring doesn’t add UV protection or change the filter’s effect; that comes from the filter you attach. Its role is simply to connect the two sizes.
