LaCie 1BIG Dock 18TB 3.5IN 2XTHB3 USB3.1

LaCie 1BIG Dock 18TB 3.5IN 2XTHB3 USB3.1 | 18TB for a working archive

Keep a large photo or video archive together, with room to organise years of work in one place. The LaCie 1BIG Dock is an 18TB external HDD in a 3.5-inch format, aimed at photographers, editors and other creatives who need substantial desktop storage. Its capacity is the main reason to consider it: it can serve as a home for finished projects, source files or a growing library that’s become awkward to spread across smaller drives. The dock name is part of the product, so this is more than a plain drive label; the title also identifies USB 3.1 and 2XTHB3. It’s a capacity-led option for a settled workspace, rather than something to pick for a pocket-sized kit. If your priority is keeping a sizeable working collection accessible from your desk, this is where the 1BIG Dock makes sense.

For a photo workflow, a single large archive can make it easier to keep shoots and projects in one place instead of splitting them across several drives. You can give the space a clear structure—by year, client or project—and find your own way of keeping active work separate from older material. The drive doesn’t organise files for you, of course; the benefit is having a lot of capacity to plan around.

The USB 3.1 and 2XTHB3 designations are useful details to compare with the connections in your intended setup. Keep in mind that this is a 3.5-inch external HDD, so it’s best thought of as desk-based storage. The honest trade-off is simple: the emphasis here is on 18TB of space, not a compact drive to carry from shoot to shoot. For a studio archive or a large collection of finished work, that can be the more practical priority.
