Laowa Ultima FF 25-180mm T3.8 Zoom - ARRI PL (VE2518038PL)

Laowa Ultima FF 25-180mm T3.8 Zoom - ARRI PL | Broad-to-tight framing in one zoom

A wide view of a location can lead into tighter coverage without changing the lens: the Laowa Ultima FF 25-180mm T3.8 Zoom gives filmmakers a broad focal range for shaping shots as a scene unfolds. It’s an interchangeable superzoom for video and filmmaking, designed for Full Frame sensors and fitted with an ARRI PL mount. That combination suits productions where a single lens needs to cover varied framing, from establishing views to closer details. Its maximum aperture is T3.8, while focus is manual, so it’s aimed at crews who want direct control over focus rather than autofocus operation. The 82°–14° angle-of-view estimate also gives a sense of how much the framing changes across the zoom range. It’s a practical lens to consider when reducing lens changes matters to your workflow.

Planning a sequence

Think through the shot’s framing before rolling: a superzoom gives you options, but the choice of view still shapes the scene. You might hold a wider composition to establish a space, then move in to isolate a subject or detail. That makes the lens useful for planned coverage where you want a range of perspectives close at hand, while keeping the creative decisions about camera position and framing in your hands.
