Leofoto TRFC-01 Lens Collar for Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD | Support your telephoto lens on a tripod
Without a lens collar, a telephoto lens on a tripod is usually supported from the camera body. The Leofoto TRFC-01 is a collar made for the Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD, giving you a support point around the lens instead. It’s for photographers who use this Tamron and want a more lens-centred way to mount their setup for tripod work. That’s especially useful when you’re framing distant wildlife or field sports: at the long end of the zoom, small movements are more noticeable, and supporting the lens helps keep the setup steady while you compose. The collar is specific to this Tamron model, so it isn’t a general-purpose accessory for other lenses. If you often work handheld, you may have little reason to add one; its purpose is to make tripod-supported use of this particular zoom more practical.
Specialist Note
Does the TRFC-01 fit the Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD? Yes—that’s the lens it’s made for. I’d consider it if you regularly use that zoom on a tripod, especially for wildlife or field sports. At 500mm, framing can be sensitive to movement, so supporting the lens at its collar gives you a sensible starting point for steadier composition. The lens’s f/5-6.7 maximum aperture also means you’ll want to pay attention to available light as you zoom; the collar won’t make the lens brighter or replace good exposure choices. For tripod-based use, though, it’s a focused accessory for this specific Tamron rather than a one-size-fits-all collar.
