Marumi Circ Pola Filter DHG 72 mm
Marumi Circ Pola Filter DHG 72 mm | Control reflections and deepen skies
The defining choice is a 72 mm circular polarizing filter: its diameter suits a lens with a matching 72 mm filter thread, while the polarizing effect gives you control over reflections and the appearance of skies. It’s for photographers who want to shape those effects while composing, rather than rely on a later edit. Turn the filter to vary the effect: this can reduce glare from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass, and make a blue sky look deeper in relation to clouds. That makes it especially useful for landscapes, water scenes and windows in bright conditions. The effect depends on the angle of the light, so it won’t look the same in every direction. The filter is black, a low-key finish on the front of a lens. Before choosing it, make sure your lens takes a 72 mm filter; the size needs to match.
Specialist Note
For someone who photographs lakes, shop windows or cloud-filled skies, this 72 mm Marumi is a straightforward way to control reflections in camera. The circular polarizing design is the important bit: rotate the filter while watching the scene, and stop when glare has dropped or the sky has gained the depth you want. Its 72 mm size means it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread, so check the number on the lens before buying. I’d use it when reflections are distracting, but keep expectations measured: a polarizer’s effect changes with the light and your shooting direction. If you’re framing a broad sky, check the whole frame, as the effect can look uneven.
