Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND16 77 mm
Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND16 77 mm | Control bright light for longer exposures
Bright daylight can leave you with a shutter speed that’s too fast for the motion you want, or force you to stop down when you’d rather use a wider aperture. The Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND16 reduces the light entering your lens, giving you more room to choose a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture in bright conditions. It’s for photographers who want to manage exposure creatively, especially when photographing moving water or clouds and aiming for a softer sense of motion. Fit it to a lens that accepts 77 mm filters, then take a fresh meter reading and adjust your exposure with the filter in place. The ND16 rating is a set strength, so it’s best when you have a clear exposure goal rather than a need for continuously adjustable light reduction. It’s a straightforward way to work with bright scenes when your chosen settings would otherwise let in too much light.
Specialist Note
“Will this Marumi ND16 help me blur moving water in daylight?” Yes, that’s the kind of job it’s made for: it cuts the light so you can use a slower shutter speed instead of letting bright conditions dictate a fast one. The ND16 strength is fixed, so I’d choose it when you want a substantial, predictable reduction rather than fine adjustment. Its 77 mm size is the other detail to get right: it’s suited to a lens that takes 77 mm filters. For a stream or waterfall, mount it, meter with the filter fitted, then lengthen the exposure until the water’s movement looks the way you want. It won’t suit every light level, but it’s a focused tool for that effect.
