Marumi Grey Filter Super DHG ND1000 62 mm
Marumi Grey Filter Super DHG ND1000 62 mm | Make long exposures in daylight
Without a dark filter, a bright scene can force you to use a fast shutter speed, even when you want movement to blur. The Marumi Grey Filter Super DHG ND1000 reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you room to use a longer exposure in daylight. It suits photographers who want soft, flowing water, blurred clouds or a smoother sense of movement in a scene. It’s also useful when you want a long shutter speed without changing the look of the scene by choosing a much smaller aperture. This is a strong-density filter, so it’s intended for deliberate long-exposure work rather than quick snapshots. Choose it by the 62 mm filter diameter on your lens. For a steady result at longer shutter speeds, use a tripod and set focus before fitting the filter.
Specialist Note
An ND1000 is too strong for everyday handheld shooting, but that’s precisely why it’s useful when you want a genuinely long exposure in daylight. Its roughly ten-stop reduction can turn a meter reading of 1/125 sec into about 8 sec, giving moving water time to soften; take a test exposure and adjust for the light. I’d suggest it to someone planning a considered landscape or architectural frame, rather than someone who needs to react quickly. The 62 mm diameter is the key fit detail: it’s for a lens that takes 62 mm filters. Keep a tripod ready, because those longer exposures will show camera movement too.
