When a landscape needs both a close foreground and a wide sweep of sky, a fisheye can bring the whole scene into one frame. The Meike MK 6.5mm f/2.0 is an interchangeable ultra-wide prime lens for Fuji X cameras with APS-C sensors. Its 131° estimated angle of view gives you room to build dramatic compositions in landscapes and architecture, while the fisheye perspective bends straight lines, especially towards the edges. That effect is part of the look, so it’s better suited to expressive building shots than to images where walls need to appear straight. The f/2 maximum aperture is also useful for astrophotography, where gathering more light can help you work with shorter exposures. If you enjoy shaping a scene around an unusually wide view, rather than aiming for a natural-looking perspective, this lens has a clear creative purpose.

Specialist Note

In a cramped interior, this 6.5mm fisheye can take in more of the room than the usual workaround of backing into a corner. I’d suggest it to Fuji X photographers who want an expressive frame, not perfectly straight architectural lines. The f/2 maximum aperture helps when you’re photographing the night sky, as it lets in more light for each exposure. On an APS-C Fujifilm X body, the focal length gives a full-frame equivalent of about 9.75mm, so there’s a very wide sweep of sky or landscape to compose around a foreground detail. For architecture that needs natural-looking lines, I’d reach for a different perspective.
