Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 67mm

Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 67mm | Adjust light for longer exposures

On a bright day, you may want a slower shutter speed for flowing water or a wider aperture for a softer background, but the available light can get in the way. The Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 is a neutral-density filter: it reduces the light reaching your camera, and its variable strength lets you adjust how much. That makes it useful when you want to change exposure without swapping between separate ND filters. It suits photographers working outdoors, and can also help when making video in bright conditions. The 67mm size is the key detail when matching it to a lens: the lens needs a 67mm filter thread. Use it to manage exposure while keeping your chosen shutter speed or aperture, rather than relying on camera settings alone.

Getting the effect you want

Start with a modest reduction in light, then increase it until your exposure and chosen settings work together. For a long exposure, keep the aperture and ISO where you want them and slow the shutter as the filter cuts incoming light. For a shallower depth of field in daylight, retain a wider aperture and use the filter to help avoid an overexposed image. The result still depends on the scene and your exposure settings, so check the image as you adjust.
