45 cm is the RL-18’s outside diameter, so the ring gives a face a broad, even source rather than a small, concentrated spot. I’d point it towards a seated subject for make-up tutorials or podcast video, then use the dimmer’s 1–100% range to balance the brightness with the room. The flexible gooseneck and 180° tilt are useful when your phone or camera needs to sit at a particular angle. One point to keep in mind: the stand is most stable with its centre leg joint 10–20 cm above the floor, so don’t raise the legs too far. It’s a well-equipped setup for creators who need a ring light and mounting accessories together.
Good to know
The included stand reaches 155 cm and folds down to 75 cm for storage or transport. For stability, keep the centre joint of the stand’s legs 10–20 cm above the ground; raising it higher can make the stand more likely to tip. A carry bag is included for taking the kit along.
