OWC TB4 To Ethernet 10GB/s Bus Powered Adapter

OWC TB4 To Ethernet 10GB/s Bus Powered Adapter | Add a wired Ethernet connection

A wired Ethernet connection gives your setup a direct route onto a network, without relying on a wireless link. This OWC adapter is for a Thunderbolt 4 setup that needs an Ethernet connection, and it’s bus powered. That makes it a practical fit when you want the adapter to draw power from the connected host rather than needing its own separate power source. Its job is a specific one: bridge Thunderbolt 4 and Ethernet. If that’s the connection you need, there’s little to configure in the idea of it; it’s an adapter, not a hub or a general-purpose accessory. The product title gives a 10GB/s figure, so that’s the speed marking attached to this model. For a desk, workstation or other networked setup, the appeal is simple: add Ethernet through a Thunderbolt 4 connection, with power supplied over the bus.

A focused connection for a wired setup

This adapter makes most sense when your setup already has Thunderbolt 4 and you specifically need to connect to Ethernet. It’s not a product to choose for extra ports or a range of different connections; the name points to one bridge between two connection types. That focus can be useful when you want to keep the decision straightforward. You can judge it by the ends of the connection you need and by the 10GB/s figure stated in the product name, without treating it as a broader dock. Bus power also suits a setup where you prefer the connected host to power the adapter. The honest point is that this is a specialist accessory for a particular connection need, rather than a general upgrade for every computer bag. If Thunderbolt 4 to Ethernet is the gap in your setup, this OWC adapter addresses that gap directly.
