Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Single)
Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Single) | Helps tame wind noise
Wind across a lavalier microphone can make speech harder to hear. The Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield is a small-format windshield for lavalier-microphone recording, intended to help reduce that problem. It suits people using a lav mic for spoken audio who want a dedicated windshield rather than leaving the microphone exposed to moving air. The black finish is a restrained option when you’d rather the accessory draw less attention in a shot. Its Mini name also makes it a sensible format to consider when space around the microphone matters. Use it when recording speech in a breezy outdoor setting, or anywhere air movement is likely to interfere with a clean take. It’s a focused accessory, not a microphone or a complete recording setup; its job is to help shield a lav mic from wind. The Single version is for anyone who needs one windshield, rather than a multi-unit option.
Specialist Note
Will this help with wind noise on a lav mic? Yes, that’s the job of this windshield: it gives the microphone a barrier against moving air that can distract from speech. I’d consider the Mini Urchin when you want a compact-form accessory around a lav mic, especially for spoken recordings made outdoors. The black colour is useful if you want the microphone area to stay visually quiet, rather than adding a bright detail to clothing or a frame. The name’s “Single” designation means this is the one-unit version, so it suits a setup needing 1 windshield. Keep expectations focused: it’s for wind protection, not a way to change the sound or add features to the microphone.
