Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield Grey (Single)
Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield Grey (Single) | A focused layer against wind noise
The Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield Grey (Single) is a dedicated windshield for a lavalier microphone, sold as one piece. It suits anyone recording speech with a lav mic who needs help managing wind noise, especially when recording outdoors or near moving air. A windshield can soften the effect of air hitting the microphone, helping speech remain easier to hear; it won’t remove every sound in a noisy environment. The Mini format makes this a compact option when you want to cover a lavalier mic without choosing a larger-looking accessory. Its grey colour gives you a neutral alternative to a black cover, which can be useful when you’d rather the microphone setup not draw extra attention. This is a simple, focused accessory: choose it for wind protection on a lav mic, rather than as a general-purpose microphone cover.
Specialist Note
Many first-time lav users leave wind protection until they can already hear gusts in a recording. I’d fit this Radius windshield before an outdoor interview or a spoken piece near a fan, so it can help limit wind reaching the mic from the start. The Mini name points to a compact format, which suits a lav setup where a larger cover could be distracting. Grey is a handy neutral colour when you want the microphone to attract less attention. This is the Single version, so plan on 1 windshield for the one mic you want to cover. It’s a specific wind accessory, not a fix for traffic, room echo or other background noise.
