Radius Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Pair)
Radius Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Pair) | Help reduce wind noise on lavalier recordings
Coming as a pair, the Radius Urchin LAV Windshields let you prepare two lavalier microphones for recording in breezy conditions. A windshield sits over a microphone to help soften the sound of wind hitting it, which can make spoken audio easier to hear outdoors or near an open window. These are intended for people recording interviews, presentations or dialogue with lavalier microphones, especially when the mic needs to stay close to the speaker. The black finish is a low-key option when you’d rather the microphone cover draw little attention on camera. They’re a focused accessory, not a fix for every unwanted sound: wind protection can help with airflow, but it won’t prevent clothing from rubbing against a mic. If you record two people at once, having a pair means both microphones can be covered for the same recording.
Specialist Note
First-time lav users often leave the microphone exposed and only notice wind noise once they listen back; this windshield gives the mic a simple layer of protection before you start recording. The pair is handy for a two-person interview: fit one over each lavalier so both voices have the same basic wind protection. I’d also choose these when a visible mic needs to stay discreet, since the black finish is less conspicuous against dark clothing. Keep in mind that a windshield won’t stop fabric brushing the microphone, so position each lav where it won’t rub. It’s a small, practical step for cleaner dialogue outdoors.
