Radius Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Single)
Radius Urchin LAV Windshield Black (Single) | Helps tame wind noise
Wind hitting a lavalier microphone can make speech harder to hear, especially during an outdoor take where repeating a line is inconvenient. The Radius Urchin LAV Windshield Black is made for that specific problem: it’s a windshield for lavalier microphones, in black, supplied as a single unit. Put it over the mic when moving air is a concern, then record a short test and listen back before starting the full take. That quick check helps you judge whether the protection and mic placement are working in your location; a windshield can’t remove every kind of noise. It’s suited to interview setups, presenter pieces and other spoken recordings using a lav mic. If you need a black windshield for one microphone, rather than a collection of audio accessories, this is a straightforward, focused option.
Specialist Note
Its scope is narrow: this is one black windshield for a lavalier microphone, not a broader audio kit. That’s also the reason to choose it when moving air around a spoken recording is the specific nuisance you need to address. For a one-person outdoor interview, place it over the lav mic before you roll and listen to a quick test clip; for a presenter piece near a breezy doorway, that same test can help you decide whether the setup is ready. The black finish may be less conspicuous against dark clothing, though it won’t blend with every outfit. I’d choose it when you need a single lav windshield, not as a fix for handling noise or every challenging recording location.
