Ricoh Lens Hood PH-RBD 49mm
Ricoh Lens Hood PH-RBD 49mm - 49mm fit for the DA 50-200mm
Without a hood, light from outside the picture can reach the lens and cause flare or colour cast. The Ricoh Lens Hood PH-RBD 49mm is a 49mm hood compatible with the Pentax DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED AL WR. It’s an accessory for owners of that zoom who want to manage stray light and add a barrier in front of the lens. The hood is orange, so it also has a distinct look on the lens. For outdoor scenes, it’s useful when bright light comes in from the side: the hood reduces the chance of flare and unwanted colour affecting the image. That matters with subjects such as a building or landscape, where a hazy patch can distract from detail. It also has a role when the front of the lens is exposed to accidental contact; the hood provides an extra layer of protection. This is a specific match for the DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED AL WR, rather than a general-purpose recommendation for every lens with a 49mm diameter. If that’s the lens you use, the PH-RBD brings light control and front-end protection in one dedicated accessory.
Highlights
- 49mm size: The hood’s stated size is 49mm. That’s the key fit detail for matching it with the compatible DA 50-200mm lens.
- Compatible with the DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED AL WR: This named Pentax zoom is the confirmed lens pairing. The hood is a targeted accessory for owners of this model.
- Reduces unwanted light: A hood keeps some stray light from entering the lens. This is particularly relevant when strong light comes from outside the framing.
- Less risk of flare: Flare can add distracting marks or haze to a photo. The PH-RBD is intended to reduce that risk when stray light reaches the front of the lens.
- Helps limit colour cast: Unwanted light can affect the colour in an image. The hood reduces the chance of that happening, useful when you want the scene’s colours to remain clear.
- Extra front protection: The hood adds a protective barrier in front of the lens. It offers an extra measure of protection against accidental contact with the lens front.
- Orange colour: The supplier lists this hood in orange. It’s a visible detail for anyone who wants to identify the accessory easily on the compatible lens.
Specialist Note
“Does this PH-RBD fit the Pentax DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED AL WR?” Yes, that’s the specific lens listed for this 49mm hood. I’d recommend it to someone using that zoom outdoors, especially when sunlight or another bright source is just outside the frame. Keep the hood on for those scenes and it reduces the risk of flare and colour cast from unwanted light. It also adds a protective barrier at the front, which is welcome when the lens is being handled between shots. The 49mm size is useful for identifying the right pairing, but I wouldn’t treat it as confirmation that the hood fits every lens with a 49mm diameter. And the orange finish is unmistakable—handy if you like your accessories easy to spot.
