Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 77
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 77 | Control reflections and sky contrast
Reduce distracting reflections from water, glass and shiny leaves, or add depth to a blue sky: the Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 77 is a circular polarizing filter in the 77 mm size. It suits photographers who want to manage reflected light in the frame, particularly for landscapes, architecture and scenes shot through windows. Turn the filter while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, and the effect changes with its angle; stop when reflections are reduced to the level you want. The result can be clearer surface detail and a more defined sky, though the effect depends on the light and your shooting direction. Its black finish gives the filter a discreet look on the lens. This is a hands-on tool for shaping a scene as you make the photograph, rather than an effect to add afterwards.
Specialist Note
The turning ring is the practical detail here: a small rotation lets you watch reflections change before you take the shot. The 77 in the name gives you the size to match against the filter thread on your lens; it’s worth getting that match right before you set out. As a circular polariser, it’s suited to someone who photographs reflective surfaces or wants more definition in a sky. For glass, adjust the ring while framing until the reflection gives way to what’s behind it. For a landscape, do the same while watching the sky. The effect depends on the angle to the light, so it won’t be equally strong in every direction.
