Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel | Adjust your microphone’s angle on a boom

Get your microphone pointing where you need it without having to reposition the whole boom. The Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel is a small microphone accessory for sound recordists and anyone working with a boom who needs to adjust microphone placement. Its swivel design gives you a way to change the angle at the adaptor, which can be useful when a speaker moves or the boom needs to stay in place while the microphone is redirected. It’s suited to location recording, interviews and other setups where careful microphone positioning matters. The 3/8" size identifies the boom connection this adaptor is made for, so it’s worth matching that measurement to your setup. This is a specific, practical part rather than a microphone or a boom: its job is to help bring those pieces together and make angled positioning more manageable. If you’re building a setup around a 3/8" boom, it offers a straightforward way to add swivel movement at the connection.

Specialist Note

The Rycote 3/8" Boom Adaptor Swivel is a practical way to change microphone direction without shifting the boom itself. The 3/8" sizing matters: it’s the detail to match when choosing the boom connection for your setup. The swivel is useful when you need to aim a microphone toward an interviewee while keeping the boom where it is, or redirect it for a different speaker; adjust the angle at the adaptor rather than moving the whole support. I’d point this out to location recordists who need a little more control over placement. One limit is that it’s an adaptor, not a complete boom or microphone, so it makes most sense as part of a setup you already have.
