Rycote Baseball Black (24/25mm)
Rycote Baseball Black (24/25mm) | A neat windscreen for location audio
On a breezy location interview, a windscreen can help keep air noise from distracting from speech. The Rycote Baseball Black is a baseball-style microphone accessory for that kind of recording, giving you a purpose-made option instead of relying on a hand or a makeshift cover. Its 24/25mm size designation is useful when you’re choosing a cover for a microphone: compare it with the microphone’s diameter before you buy. The black finish keeps the accessory visually subdued on camera, which can be welcome in interviews and filmed conversations where a bright detail would draw the eye. It’s suited to interviewers, videographers and other location recordists who want a simple microphone windscreen in this size. The name and sizing are the key details here; choose it for the matching microphone diameter, rather than assuming it fits every handheld mic.
Specialist Note
The Rycote Baseball gives you a dedicated microphone cover instead of having to cup your hand around the mic when air movement becomes a problem. I’d look at it for location interviews or filmed conversations where you want to keep the microphone ready for use, rather than improvising a shield. The 24/25mm size is the practical detail to check against your microphone’s diameter; it tells you which size to consider, not that every handheld mic will fit. Its black finish is a sensible choice when you’d rather the accessory stay visually quiet in the frame. Keep the decision focused on that size match and the kind of recording you do.
