Rycote Boom Pole Adaptor
Rycote Boom Pole Adaptor | A dedicated part for boom-pole microphone setups
When you’re assembling a boom-pole rig for dialogue, a dedicated adaptor can be preferable to trying to make an improvised connection work. The Rycote Boom Pole Adaptor is an accessory for microphone setups built around a boom pole. Its name makes its role clear: it’s an adaptor for this kind of rig, rather than a microphone or a complete boom-pole system. That makes it relevant to sound recordists and video crews who use a boom pole as part of their recording setup and need an adaptor in the chain. It can be considered for work such as spoken interviews or filmed scenes, where the microphone needs to be positioned as part of a boom-pole arrangement. The product information available here doesn’t establish which specific poles or microphone fittings it suits, so it’s best to match it to the connection your setup requires before relying on it for a particular rig.
Specialist Note
This Rycote Boom Pole Adaptor gives a boom-pole setup a dedicated adaptor rather than a makeshift connection. That’s the job to keep in mind when you’re planning a recording rig. I’d consider it for dialogue on a filmed scene or an interview where a boom pole is part of how you position the microphone; plan the placement around the speaker or subject, then use the adaptor as part of that setup. It’s aimed at people putting together microphone equipment, not shoppers looking for a microphone itself. One practical point: the product name alone doesn’t tell me which particular fittings it joins, so I wouldn’t assume it suits every pole-and-microphone combination.
