Rycote Connbox CB3 (2XLR-3F)
Rycote Connbox CB3 (2XLR-3F) | A defined two-XLR connection point
Without a dedicated connector box, arranging a microphone setup around separate XLR connections can leave you with a less clearly defined connection point. The Rycote Connbox CB3 (2XLR-3F) is a microphone accessory whose name spells out the key detail: it’s specified for two 3-pin female XLR connections. That makes it relevant when you’re planning a setup that needs exactly that connector format, rather than shopping for a microphone or a general cable. It’s best suited to audio users who already know what their connection point needs to accept and want to match that requirement precisely. For instance, if a recording setup calls for two female XLR sockets at the microphone end, the CB3’s designation gives you a direct format to compare against your plan. The useful point here is specificity; choose it for the two-XLR, 3-pin female arrangement, not simply because you need an unspecified microphone accessory.
Specialist Note
The CB3’s 2XLR-3F format is specific, so it only makes sense when your setup calls for two 3-pin female XLR connections; that clarity is also its appeal. I’d consider it for a two-microphone interview or a pair of microphone feeds only if those are the connectors your rig needs at this point in the setup. The “2XLR” part means you’re planning for two XLR connections, while “3F” identifies the three-pin female format—useful details to match before you build around it. If your setup calls for one connection, or a different connector format, this isn’t the right match. For the right arrangement, the naming keeps the decision refreshingly straightforward.
