Rycote Hi Wind Cover 7
Rycote Hi Wind Cover 7 | A wind-cover option for microphone recording
Its defining choice is a wind cover for microphone use: the Rycote Hi Wind Cover 7 is intended for situations where moving air can interfere with recording. That makes it relevant to sound recordists working outdoors or in other exposed locations, especially when capturing speech. The aim is straightforward: put a wind cover into the microphone setup when wind is a concern, rather than treating the accessory as a microphone or a recording control. It’s a focused piece of kit for people who already know they need a cover for their recording work. The product name identifies it as the Hi Wind Cover 7; beyond that, its appeal is its specific role in a microphone setup. If your recording plans include open-air dialogue or interviews, it’s worth considering as a dedicated wind-cover option.
Specialist Note
When wind becomes the problem, the Hi Wind Cover 7 is there to address it at the microphone, without asking you to change your recording approach. The “Hi Wind” wording is a clear clue to its intended role: consider it for outdoor speech, such as a location interview, where air movement can get in the way of a clean take. The “7” is part of the exact product name, so keep that identifier to hand when you’re comparing wind-cover options for your setup. I’d treat this as a purpose-specific microphone accessory, not a general audio fix. It can help address wind, but it can’t replace careful microphone placement or good recording practice.
