Rycote Stereo Duck Raincover AD
Rycote Stereo Duck Raincover AD | Rain cover for stereo microphone recording
Its purpose is right there in the name: the Rycote Stereo Duck Raincover AD is a raincover for stereo microphone recording. It suits sound recordists who need to keep recording outdoors when rain is a concern, rather than leave a stereo microphone exposed to the weather. The clearest use is protecting a stereo setup during location work, such as recording outdoor ambience or capturing an interview outside. It’s a focused accessory, not a general-purpose microphone add-on, and the name gives you the key points: Rycote, Stereo Duck Raincover and the AD designation. If rain is the particular risk you’re planning around, that direct purpose makes this easier to assess than a cover described only in broad terms. For a purchasing decision, match it to the stereo microphone arrangement you intend to use; the product name alone doesn’t establish which specific microphones it fits.
Think of it as a practical piece of weather cover for a recording session where conditions may change. For outdoor ambience, use it with one stereo recording setup when rain threatens; for an outdoor interview, it serves the same rain-cover role while you capture speech. Its value is in that specific job. It won’t take the place of thoughtful microphone placement or good recording technique, so plan those separately.
Specialist Note
The Rycote Stereo Duck Raincover AD is made for one clear job: covering a stereo microphone setup when rain is a concern. I’d consider it for outdoor ambience recording or an interview outside, where keeping the session going matters more than having a general-purpose accessory. The word “Stereo” is useful guidance here: this is aimed at a stereo recording context, not simply any microphone use. “Raincover” tells you what kind of protection to expect, so I’d treat it as weather cover rather than a fix for wind or handling noise. It’s a focused choice; pair it with the stereo microphone arrangement you plan to record with.
