Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB 3.0 (3.1 Gen 1) 2000GB Black

Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB | Keep your photo files together

Keeping a photo archive in one place makes it easier to find a past shoot, revisit selects or make room in your everyday workspace. The Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB is a black external HDD with 2TB (2000GB) of storage and a USB 3.0 connection, also identified as USB 3.1 Gen 1. It suits photographers who want a separate destination for image files, video footage and other personal documents, without turning their main computer into the only place those files live. Use it for a working archive, or to keep an extra copy of important folders. One honest point: a drive is only a backup if you actually copy files to it and keep that copy up to date. The straightforward appeal here is the combination of a named 2TB capacity and a portable external-drive format, rather than a complicated storage setup.

A simple place for an extra copy

A sensible routine is to sort a shoot into clearly named folders, then copy the finished files to a separate storage destination. That makes it easier to locate an older project without mixing it into your current working folders. You can also use a drive like this to keep a second copy of files you’d rather not have in just one place. For anything important, keep in mind that one copy is still one copy; consider how you’ll preserve another copy if the files matter to you.

If you’re building an archive gradually, decide what belongs on the drive before you start copying. Finished projects, exported images and source files can all be organised in a way that suits your own workflow. The useful part is having a dedicated place to put them, with a clear folder structure you can return to later. No special routine is required: consistency matters more than making the system elaborate.
