Sirui Astra Series 100mm T1.8 1.33X FullFrame Cine Lens (L Mount Neutral Flare) | Anamorphic framing with a fast aperture

For cinematic dialogue, portrait inserts and carefully composed details, the 1.33X squeeze offers a widescreen approach to framing on a full-frame cine setup. The Sirui Astra Series 100mm T1.8 1.33X FullFrame Cine Lens (L Mount Neutral Flare) is a manual-focus short-telephoto prime for Leica L cameras. Its 100mm focal length and approximately 24° angle of view help isolate a subject from a busy setting. This lens suits filmmakers who can plan their camera position and focus, and want a longer prime for available-light work. It’s well suited to a single-speaker interview, a close portrait or a carefully chosen detail. The narrow view calls for space to work, though; it’s less comfortable in a cramped room where you can’t move the camera back.

Specialist Note

Keeping a tight frame bright can be a challenge when the available light is limited; the T1.8 maximum aperture gives you more room to work without immediately adding light. I’d consider this lens for a seated interview or a deliberate portrait insert: set focus manually on the nearer eye, and allow enough distance to frame the subject with a 100mm view. The 1.33X squeeze suits a widescreen-minded film workflow, and the Neutral Flare version is a specific pick for that flare character. One practical limit: in a small room, the tight framing can leave you short of space to position the camera.
