SmallRig 5724 Head Strap Mount For Action Cameras | Hands-free POV with a secure camera fit
A hands-free viewpoint is useful when your hands are busy but you still want to record what’s in front of you. The SmallRig 5724 Head Strap Mount For Action Cameras holds an action camera using a standard two-point attachment, and it’s compatible with most common action cameras. Mini action cameras weighing under 500 g are also supported. Its quick-release interface makes attaching and removing the camera straightforward, while a safety lock keeps the connection secured during movement. The adjustable elastic strap fits head circumferences from 50 to 65 cm, and its top strap can be configured in two or three sections. That combination makes the 5724 relevant for first-person footage on a walk, or for recording an activity where carrying the camera isn’t convenient. The inner silicone lining and removable front and rear pads add considered contact points for longer wear and routine cleaning. It’s a focused mount for action-camera users who want a head-level point of view.
Head Strap Details
- Quick-release camera interface: Attach or remove the camera through the mount’s quick-release connection. It’s handy when you need to switch between recording and carrying the camera.
- Safety lock: A lock on the quick-release base guards against the camera coming loose unintentionally as you move. That extra restraint matters for footage made while active.
- Adjustable elastic band: Hook-and-loop fasteners set the strap tension for head sizes from 50 to 65 cm. The elastic construction allows a close, adjustable fit across that range.
- Two- or three-part top strap: Configure the upper strap in two or three sections to suit an action camera or a mini action camera. This modular layout accommodates both camera types supported by the mount.
- Soft silicone lining: Silicone on the inside adds a grippy surface against the head, with a soft feel against the skin. The front and rear padded sections can be removed for cleaning.
Specialist Note
At 122.3 g, the strap mount itself stays relatively light on your head, before you add the camera; that’s a useful detail for a first-person view during a walk or another hands-busy activity. I’d choose it for an action camera with the standard two-point attachment, or a mini action camera under 500 g, and use the head-level viewpoint when you want the recording to follow your line of sight. The removable pads at the front and back are a thoughtful touch: take them out for cleaning after use, then put them back for the next session. Do keep the camera’s weight within the stated limit for mini models.
