TetherTools TetherPro USB 3.0 USB Female Active Extension 5m | Add five metres of USB cable reach

When your camera needs to sit farther from your computer, a short cable can dictate where you work. The TetherTools TetherPro USB 3.0 USB Female Active Extension adds 5 m to a USB connection, giving you more room to arrange a tethered setup. It’s an active extension with a USB female connection, intended to extend a cable run rather than replace the cable already in your setup. That makes it most relevant when your current lead falls short of a workable camera position. The benefit is straightforward: more distance to plan around when placing your computer and camera. If you’re looking for an extension rather than a hub or a different connection, this is a focused option. Just think through the route you want the cable to take before you settle your equipment in place.

Plan the working position

It helps to decide where you want to work before laying out the cable. Consider the space between the computer and the camera, and whether you’ll need to move around that area during a shoot. A clear route can make the setup easier to work around; avoid leaving a cable across a walkway if you can route it beside a desk or along the edge of your work area instead. These are simple planning points, but they matter when the camera and computer aren’t right next to each other.

A straightforward extension

This cable is for adding reach to a USB 3.0 setup, not for changing how you organise a shoot. Keep the intended camera position and computer position in mind, then decide whether an extension is the kind of cable you need. That’s the honest appeal here: it addresses a specific problem—running short on cable—without adding another piece of equipment to manage. For a tethered workspace where a little more distance makes the layout more practical, the 5 m length gives you a clear measurement to work with.
