Tiffen 44CGB5S 4x4 CLR/Blue 5 Grad SE Filter
Tiffen 44CGB5S 4x4 CLR/Blue 5 Grad SE Filter | Add blue to part of the frame
To bring blue into one area of a composition while keeping another area clear, the Tiffen 44CGB5S 4x4 CLR/Blue 5 Grad SE Filter gives you a graduated colour effect to shape in-camera. Its 4x4 format and CLR/Blue 5 Grad designation make it a specialised option for photographers who want to place colour selectively rather than tint the whole image. On a landscape, you can position the blue portion over the sky and the clear portion over the land; the graduated area lets the colour meet the rest of the scene across the frame. It can also suit a composed architectural or studio image where a band of blue helps define part of the picture. This is best for deliberate colour placement, not for neutral filtration. The title identifies it as a blue grad filter, so its role is to add colour rather than simply protect or clarify the image.
Specialist Note
This Tiffen lets you introduce blue to a selected part of the image at capture, instead of tinting the whole frame. I’d start with a landscape: place the blue area over the sky and keep the clear area over the land, then adjust the filter’s position until the transition sits where you want it. The 4x4 format is the key practical detail here; match that format to the holder in your setup before planning a shot. Its 5 Grad designation identifies this particular graduated effect, which helps when you’re choosing the look you want. It suits photographers who enjoy shaping colour in-camera. One limit: if your aim is neutral filtration, this blue effect isn’t the right tool.
