Tokina 127mm Pro IRND 0.3
Tokina 127mm Pro IRND 0.3 | Gain one stop of exposure control
Without a neutral-density filter, bright conditions can leave you choosing between a fast shutter and a smaller aperture. The Tokina 127mm Pro IRND 0.3 gives you a measured way to reduce incoming light, so you can make that choice with more control. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want to manage exposure in bright scenes, especially when they’re aiming for motion blur or a particular aperture rather than simply accepting the settings the light demands. The IRND designation indicates a filter intended to manage infrared as well as visible light. That makes it relevant when infrared contamination is a concern in your image-making. Its effect is deliberately modest: this is for a small exposure adjustment, not for dramatically darkening a scene. If you’re building a setup around large-format filters and need that precise step, this Tokina offers a specific tool rather than an all-purpose solution.
Specialist Note
Is 0.3 enough to make a difference? Yes: it represents a one-stop reduction, which is useful when your exposure is just a little too bright for the shutter speed or aperture you want. For example, it can help you lengthen a shutter speed to show movement in flowing water, or hold your chosen aperture in bright daylight. The 127mm size is the other detail to plan around; it belongs in a setup built for that filter size, so it’s worth matching it to your existing arrangement. I’d point this toward photographers and filmmakers who need a controlled, incremental adjustment. It won’t replace a stronger ND when you need a much longer exposure.
