Urth 62 77mm Step Up Ring Lens Filter Adapter
Urth 62 77mm Step Up Ring Lens Filter Adapter | Use larger filters on a smaller thread
Urth 62 77mm Step Up Ring Lens Filter Adapter bridges a smaller lens thread to a larger filter thread. It’s for photographers whose lens and filter sizes don’t match, and its job is straightforward: let a filter with a larger fitting attach to a lens with a smaller one. That can be handy if you already own larger filters and want to use one on a lens with a narrower thread, rather than limiting yourself to filters that match each lens exactly. For example, landscape photographers can use the ring to fit a larger filter to a lens for a scene where they want to manage reflections or exposure. The adapter changes the connection between lens and filter; it doesn’t change the lens itself. It’s best suited to a simple, specific problem: making these two thread sizes work together. If your filter and lens already match, you won’t need a step-up ring.
Specialist Note
Photographers framing wide landscapes or city architecture are the people I’d point towards this ring when they want to use a larger filter on a lens with a smaller thread. The smaller lens-side fitting is what lets it attach to that lens, while the larger filter-side fitting accepts the bigger filter; in practice, that means you can put an existing filter to work instead of buying a matching-size version for this lens. Fit the ring to the lens first, then attach the filter. It’s a simple adapter, not a filter itself, so it won’t add a filtering effect. If you only use filters that match your lens thread, this isn’t something you need.
