Viltrox PL-GFX Adapter
Viltrox PL-GFX Adapter | Fit PL cine lenses to Fujifilm GFX
The Viltrox PL-GFX Adapter pairs a lightweight aluminium-alloy body with corrosion-resistant stainless steel, balancing low weight with materials suited to demanding shooting environments. It adapts a PL-mount lens for use on a Fujifilm G-mount camera, opening a GFX setup to PL cine lenses. That includes Viltrox EPIC-series PL anamorphic lenses, a specific pairing for filmmakers working with that lens range. Use it to mount a PL cine lens on a Fujifilm GFX body for a manually focused shot, or bring a compatible EPIC anamorphic lens into a GFX camera setup. The adapter’s closely matched connection is intended to maintain accurate infinity focus, while its construction keeps the lens mount secure. It’s a focused piece of kit: the job is to bridge PL and G mounts, rather than add electronic controls or autofocus.
In the field
- Rotating lens lock: The lens secures with a turn-and-lock mechanism. That firm hold is reassuring when a cine lens is mounted and the camera is being repositioned.
- Close, precise fit: The connection is made to fit tightly, with no play. A stable join matters when handling a camera and lens as one rig.
- Infinity focus: The adapter is specified for accurate focus at infinity. That matters for distant subjects and wide establishing shots where the lens needs to reach its far-focus setting.
- Manual focus: Focusing is manual, so this adapter is intended for a setup where focus is operated on the lens rather than by autofocus.
- Compact dimensions and weight: It measures 95 × 42.4 × 105.5 mm and weighs 245 g. Those figures are useful when planning the space and weight of a camera rig.
Specialist Note
Mounting feels deliberate: seat the PL lens, then turn the lock until it’s secured. That gives a cine lens a firm connection to the GFX body, rather than a loose-feeling join. At 245 g, the adapter adds a noticeable piece of hardware to your setup, so account for it when balancing a rig. I’d recommend it to GFX owners working with PL cine glass, particularly a compatible Viltrox EPIC anamorphic lens. For a distant composition, the adapter’s stated infinity-focus accuracy is useful; just remember that focus remains manual, so this isn’t a route to autofocus.
