Westcott L60-B Bi-Colour COB LED (60W)

Westcott L60-B Bi-Colour COB LED (60W) | A studio light with warm-to-cool choice

The Westcott L60-B Bi-Colour COB LED is a 60W studio light for photographers who want a choice of warmer or cooler white light. Its straightforward appeal is that combination of a familiar studio-light format and bi-colour output, without a long list of extra features to weigh up. It suits portrait and product photographers setting up a home studio, as well as creators working in a dedicated photo space. The 60W rating is a useful part of comparing it with other lights, though it doesn’t tell the whole story of how bright a setup will look; distance and the scene matter too. If you’re choosing a first studio light, or adding another source to a small setup, this is a focused option to consider. Its strengths are clear from the name: Westcott, 60W, COB LED and bi-colour.

Making use of bi-colour light

Bi-colour gives you a way to shift the light between warmer and cooler white, which can help when you want the scene’s lighting to feel consistent with other light in the room. It also gives you room to make a deliberate choice about the look of a portrait or tabletop scene, rather than treating the light’s colour as fixed. A practical approach is to decide on the overall feel first, then adjust the light and review the result in the camera. Keep in mind that the colour setting is only one part of the picture: where you position a light and how it falls across the subject matter as well. There’s no need to make the setup complicated. For a compact studio, a light with a simple, specific purpose can be easier to work into a repeatable routine than a pile of features you may not use.
