Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB Blue

Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB Blue | 2TB storage for your photo files

When camera cards start filling up, a separate drive gives you somewhere to put files you want to keep together. The Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB Blue is an external HDD with 2TB capacity, suited to photographers who want a dedicated destination for image files alongside other personal files. That can be handy for a growing photo archive, a collection from several shoots, or keeping working files out of the way on your computer. The appeal is straightforward: a defined amount of storage in an external hard drive. One detail to resolve before choosing by colour: the product title says “Blue”, while the supplier’s colour information says black. We follow the supplier for the colour, so this description identifies the drive as black. For storage, the key figure here is 2TB.

Plan the space around your files

Think about how you’ll use the drive before you start adding files. You might keep separate folders for different shoots, or group images by year; the important thing is picking a system you’ll recognise later. A little organisation at the start makes it easier to find a particular set of pictures when the archive grows.

A separate drive can also give you a place to keep another copy of important files. That copy is only useful if you make it and keep it up to date, so build the step into your own routine. This is a straightforward storage purchase: decide whether 2TB suits the amount of material you plan to keep, then use the drive as a clearly organised home for it.
