Zhiyun Smooth Q5 Ultra - Stabilizer For Smartphone
Zhiyun Smooth Q5 Ultra - Stabilizer For Smartphone | Smoother video on the move
Walking while filming a piece to camera can leave your phone footage bobbing with every step. The Zhiyun Smooth Q5 Ultra is a gimbal stabiliser for smartphone video, made for those moving shots where you want the picture to feel steadier. It’s particularly suited to vlogging, filming as you walk, and recording video while on the move. If you often capture quick updates or moving scenes on your phone, it gives you a stabilising tool without changing the way you film: your smartphone remains at the centre of the setup. The benefit is most relevant when the camera is moving with you, rather than when you’re recording a fixed shot. For everyday mobile video, it’s a focused option: choose it for smoother walking footage and vlogging, not because you need a general-purpose camera.
Where it earns its place
Think of the Smooth Q5 Ultra when the shot needs to travel with you. A walking vlog or a short video recorded while moving are natural uses for a smartphone gimbal. For a locked-off recording, its particular advantage matters less; its purpose is to help with footage captured on the move.
Specialist Note
That step-by-step bob can distract from what you’re saying in a walking vlog, and the Smooth Q5 Ultra is made to help with exactly that kind of smartphone video. As a gimbal stabiliser, it gives your moving phone footage support; that’s why I’d consider it for a walk-and-talk clip rather than a fixed shot. It’s also specifically a smartphone tool, so your phone stays at the centre of the filming setup. For a moving update, keep your framing simple and let the gimbal do its job as you walk. If most of your videos are filmed from one spot, you may not need a stabiliser focused on movement.
