7Artisans 6mm f/2.0 - Micro Four Thirds-Mount - Black | A broad view for landscapes and night skies

7Artisans 6mm f/2.0 - Micro Four Thirds-Mount - Black gives you a 122° angle of view in a compact ultra-wide prime. It’s built for Micro Four Thirds photographers who want to fit more of a scene into the frame, especially when working with landscapes, architecture or the night sky. That sweeping view makes nearby foreground details feel prominent while taking in a great deal of the surroundings, so careful positioning matters: shift your viewpoint and the whole composition can change. It’s a straightforward option for photographers happy to work with a manual lens and make deliberate framing choices. Use it for a wide landscape with a strong foreground, to show the scale of a building, or to include a broad stretch of sky in an astro composition. Its very wide perspective is less suited to scenes where you want distant subjects to fill the frame.

Specialist Note

At blue hour, with a building rising against a darkening sky, this is the sort of lens that earns its place by keeping both subject and setting in the picture. I’d keep the camera level for architecture, then move closer or farther to set the balance between the building and its surroundings. For stars, f/2 gives you a bright starting point; try an exposure, then adjust shutter time and ISO for the sky and camera you’re using. Manual focus rewards patience here, so focus carefully on a bright star before composing. On a Micro Four Thirds body, its field of view is equivalent to 12mm on full frame. It suits photographers who enjoy shaping a frame themselves; it won’t bring distant details closer.
