7Artisans 82mm True Colour CPL Filter
7Artisans 82mm True Colour CPL Filter | Tame reflections and deepen skies
The 7Artisans 82mm True Colour CPL Filter is an 82mm circular polarising filter for photographers who want more control over reflected light. It’s suited to landscape photographers, and to anyone photographing water, glass or foliage in bright conditions. A CPL can reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces and deepen a blue sky when the sun is at a suitable angle. Rotate the filter while viewing your composition to adjust the effect; a small change can make a noticeable difference to reflections on a pond or a shop window. It’s also a practical way to bring out the appearance of leaves without relying on editing later. The “True Colour” name is part of the product title; the useful point of a CPL is its control of glare and reflections, rather than adding colour. This filter is best for scenes where those reflections are getting in the way of the subject.
Specialist Note
At a canal in bright afternoon light, reflections can hide the detail beneath the water. With this CPL, rotate the filter as you look through the viewfinder or at the screen, and stop when the surface looks the way you want. The 82mm size means it’s for a lens with an 82mm filter thread, so that’s the measurement to match. I’d recommend it to someone who often photographs water, windows or open skies and wants to make that adjustment while composing. One honest limit: the sky effect depends on the sun’s angle, and can look uneven across a very wide view.
