AstrHori MF 6.5 mm f/2.0 APS-C Circular Fisheye Lens For Fujifilm X
AstrHori MF 6.5 mm f/2.0 APS-C Circular Fisheye Lens For Fujifilm X | Make bold curves part of the picture
For close-up action, graphic architecture and deliberately surreal scenes, a circular fisheye can turn straight lines into bold curves and give a familiar subject a striking new perspective. The AstrHori MF 6.5 mm f/2.0 APS-C Circular Fisheye Lens For Fujifilm X is an interchangeable manual-focus lens for Fujifilm X cameras with APS-C sensors. Its 6.5mm focal length gives you an exceptionally wide viewpoint, while the circular fisheye character is the point: this is a lens for pictures where distortion becomes part of the subject, not something to correct away. It suits photographers who want to experiment with perspective, action shooters working close to the subject, and architecture photographers after an intentionally unconventional interpretation. The Fuji X mount keeps it specific to that system, and manual focus rewards a considered approach to placing the sharp area.
Build your composition around the curve
With a circular fisheye, framing becomes part of the image’s impact. Try a centred doorway, a person against open sky, or a low viewpoint that brings a nearby foreground shape into the composition. Small changes in camera position can alter how the surrounding lines bend. For buildings, decide which edges you want curved rather than expecting a conventional, straight-lined architectural rendering.
Specialist Note
The focus ring gives your left hand a direct job: you choose where the sharp point sits rather than relying on autofocus. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, the 6.5mm view is roughly 10mm in full-frame terms, so for action near a predictable path I’d pre-focus on the spot where the subject will pass. The f/2 maximum aperture gives you room to keep shutter speed up when the light allows. For architecture, try putting a strong foreground shape near the centre and letting the edges curve around it. This is a specialist look, not a neutral everyday perspective; it works best when you compose for that effect.
